archive.faces is an online repository that documents ultra-compressed faces and portraits. It represents a sample of a social network in which the artist acts as the connecting link: classmates, family members, teachers, childhood friends, and different kinds of relationships. These people are preserved as low-resolution social traces, as if they had passed through endless uploads to new clouds that store increasingly degraded information.
This archive becomes the raw material for an archaeological speculative reconstruction. It imagines a digital ecosystem where archive.faces collects the last organic faces—belonging to real people—after an internet filled with AI-generated images, covering over the old and open internet since the 1990s.
